Michael LaScala
Founding Attorney
Michael LaScala is an experienced criminal defense and DUI attorney who has successfully represented professional athletes, elected officials, law enforcement officers, business professionals, and other high-profile clients. His background as a former prosecutor gives him valuable insight into how criminal cases are investigated, evaluated, and prosecuted.
Michael began his legal career in 1999 as an Assistant Solicitor for the Municipal Court of Atlanta. During his time as a prosecutor, he handled hundreds of cases, including DUI, drug, traffic, and other criminal offenses. In 2001, he entered private practice and began focusing his work on criminal defense.
Michael later established The LaScala Firm, LLC, where he continues to provide skilled, strategic, and personalized representation to clients facing misdemeanor and felony charges throughout Georgia.
Michael previously served as Chair of the Criminal Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association. He is also a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and organizations devoted to the defense of individuals accused of DUI and impaired-driving offenses.
Michael has been recognized by Super Lawyers every year since 2015. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Georgia in 1995 and his Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 1999. He was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1999.

Kelly Madrid is the Senior Paralegal and Office Manager at The LaScala Firm. With nearly two decades of experience in criminal defense, she plays an integral role in managing cases from intake through resolution while ensuring clients receive exceptional service and communication throughout the legal process.
Kelly has worked alongside Michael LaScala since 2006, bringing extensive experience in criminal defense, case management, client relations, and office administration. Her knowledge of court procedures and dedication to client care make her an invaluable resource for both clients and the firm.
Prior to returning to Georgia, Kelly worked in Los Angeles, California, for the William Morris Talent Agency, one of the nation’s premier entertainment agencies. She also worked with Arts Genesis, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing arts education opportunities to underserved communities.
Kelly earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Georgia. She is committed to providing compassionate, organized, and responsive support to clients as they navigate the criminal justice system.
